Setting Your Dog Up for Success
At Play Paws Rewind, every consultation is designed to look beyond the surface behaviours and uncover the emotional root of your dog’s challenges. My role as a Associate Clinical Animal Behaviourist is to provide ethical, science based guidance that helps both dogs and owners achieve lasting results.
I am based in Dunfermline, Fife, and I cover Edinburgh, Perthshire, Stirling, Dundee, and across Scotland, with the option of online consultations via Zoom for clients further afield.
👉 If you’re unsure whether your dog’s behaviour is something I can help with, have a look at the Common Behaviour Issues.
Step 1 – Veterinary Referral
Every case begins with a referral from your primary vet. This is an essential step to ensure that any underlying medical causes, such as pain, injury, or undiagnosed illness are ruled out before behavioural work begins.
👉 Veterinary surgeons can find full information and the referral form on the For Vets.
Step 2 – Pre-Assessment Questionnaire
Once I receive your vet’s referral, you’ll be sent a detailed questionnaire. This helps me build a complete picture of your dog’s daily life, history, and behaviour. Completing this in advance saves time during the consultation and ensures that we can focus directly on strategies for change.
Step 3 – Initial Consultation
The first consultation usually lasts around 1.5–2 hours and can be held in person (depending on your location in Scotland) or via Zoom.
During this session we will:
Discuss your dog’s behaviour, routines, and environment
Identify emotional triggers and underlying motivations
Begin developing a tailored behaviour modification plan
Step 4 – Behaviour Report & Plan
After your consultation you will receive:
A full written behaviour report
A personalised modification programme tailored to your home and lifestyle
A summary report sent directly to your vet to ensure joined up support
These are usually delivered within 3 working days.
Step 5 – Ongoing Support
Behavioural change takes time, and I won’t leave you on your own after the first session. I provide:
Email support for up to three months
A follow up consultation is advisable within 4 to 6 weeks from initial consultation to review progress and refine the plan if needed
Additional sessions where needed (extra charges may apply)

Insurance Coverage
Many pet insurance companies cover behaviour counselling with APBC members. Please check your policy for details.
Why This Process Works
This structured, compassionate process ensures that both you and your dog feel supported every step of the way. By combining veterinary collaboration, tailored plans, and ongoing guidance, I help create meaningful change that lasts.
